(USA) Racing is Back!

We’re back, race fans!

After filling our time these past couple months adjusting to a “new normal,” actual racing has started up again. And, from desert to dirt and rocks to mud, there is plenty of action happening at tracks and venues across the United States. I don’t know about you, but I am pretty excited to again see the roost in the air and hear the roar of a race engine again.

Check out how #TeamAMSOIL is getting back on track (pun intended) below.

Back to the Desert

Desert racers turned out in full force for the first post-COVID event of the season. The Best in the Desert Silver State 300 saw a record participation among UTVs, motorcycles/quads and cars/trucks. The 300-mile point-to-point race through the desert amidst a pandemic took a slew of planning, complete with a re-route due to a mid-race wildfire.

Coming oh-so-close to a win was 2020 King of the Hammers Trophy Truck champion Bryce Menzies. After official results were released post-race, Menzies finished just three minutes shy of the top spot behind Luke McMillin. And, in a desert-racing first, Menzies streamed the entire race on his YouTube channel. Check out a recap from the event below.

Unfortunately, another member of #TeamAMSOIL didn’t fare as well with the re-routes and wildfire-shortened course. Even so, Brad Lovell was still able to nab a top ten before switching his focus to the Ford Bronco release last week.

Back to the Trails

The Grand National Cross Country Series was just three races in before COVID forced postponement of races in March and April. Organizers formed the Safe-to-Race Task Force to evaluate the risk of holding future races. With the help of representatives from all areas of the racing industry, the task force worked with local health officials and authorities to determine a final decision.

In total, eight rounds have been completed this season. The series now heads into its summer hiatus and will pick up racing once again in September.

Back to the Track

It was a highly anticipated return to short-course racing in the Midwest with the kickoff of the Championship Off-Road Series July 10-11 at ERX Motorpark in Elk River, Minn.

With drivers from both the Midwest and West Coast series behind the pace truck, there was no shortage of excitement from a series that was once dominated by the Johnny/CJ Greaves duo.

Tight action in the Pro 2wd class ended with Keegan Kincaid of #TeamAMSOIL landing on top of the box Friday night and coming in at a close second Saturday.

Kyle LeDuc dominated Pro 4×4 action after transitioning over to the Midwest and taking the track by storm, winning both rounds of racing on the weekend, earning his 100th and 101st wins. The elusive and entertaining UTVs saw the largest car counts of the weekend, proving the title run this year is wide open.

Check out a recap of last weekend’s race below.
